County
Leitrim (Irish: Contae Liatroma) is one of the counties
of the Republic of Ireland and is part of the province
of Connacht. Its name derives from the Irish Liath Druim,
meaning "grey ridge". Visitors to County Leitrim
can enjoy landmark attractions including Parke's Castle,
the Cavan-Leitrim Steam Train Museum and the magical
Glencar Waterfall. The county also offers excellent
fishing with all year coarse angling at Lough Allen
and wild salmon and trout fishing across the north Leitrim
lakes. Carrick-on-Shannon is the county capital. Other
principle townships are Drumshanbo, Manorhamilton, Ballinamore,
Mohill and Carrigallen.
